Cupcake Pinot Grigio 2016Escape to Italy with our Pinot Grigio sourced from Trentino. Full and complex, this wine has a nose that hints of pineapple, pears and sweet lemons. Tropical fruits are integrated with the zest of citrus fruits and give way to a creamy mid-palate. We achieved depth and complexity through a combination of winemaking methods. First, grapes were hand-picked, de-stemmed and crushed prior to undergoing cool fermentation in steel tanks and an extended maceration. A small portion of the wine was made with the traditional passito method: we dried harvested grapes on straw mats for several weeks, then gently pressed and fermented them before blending.

La Petite Perriere Pinot Noir 2016WINEMAKING The grapes are mechanically harvested in the middle of September. The 2015 vintage had lower yields, due to adverse climate conditions (heavy rains, a chilly spring, lack of sun and dry weather during the harvest time) and thus the growing cycle was delayed. However, these conditions give us a wine with excellent acidity. This vintage is well-balanced with intense aromatic richness. The Pinot Noir already offers silky tannins with a good ageing potential. TASTING NOTES Beautiful ruby color mingled with a garnet hue. On the nose, aromas of black fruits such as blackberry and blueberry. The palate is fleshy at point of entry then full, ample and generous, flowing into a crisp cherry-driven finish with an ultra fresh beading sensation. A mouth-filling wine offering up the generosity and typicity of a Pinot Noir that has just hit maturity.
Fattorie Melini Chianti San Lorenzo 2015With a bright, ruby color, the wine has a pronounced bouquet of raspberries and blackberries, with hints of violets and irises. In the mouth, there are well defined, full and savory flavors with a lingering, pleasant aftertaste of wild forest berries, blackberry preserve and almonds. Terroir The vineyards that produce Fattorie Melini Chianti San Lorenzo sit on the grounds of Melini's primary cellars, an area traditionally acclaimed for their fortunate combinations of soil, aspect and climate. The complete property is over 400 acres, of which 150 are vineyards. The vineyards sit on the hillsides surrounding the property with elevations reaching 1,000 feet. Soils vary across the property with a combination of Galestro (a loose, marl-like schist soil), albarese (weathered sandstone from sedimentary, compact limestone rocks), and clay. Vinification Harvest begins in early October as the Sangiovese grapes achieve optimum ripeness. Following the crush, there are 3-4 days of cold pre-fermentation maceration at a controlled temperature (79-82.5 degrees F) with frequent remontage (pumping over). The aging process is short, (4 to 5 months) and occurs in new and old and a small part in barriques. This fresh, clean and overall delightful wine has a bright ruby color and characteristic bouquet of red-berry fruit and violets with a faint note of almond on the finish. An unrivaled introduction to Tuscany and Italian wines.
