A slow, low-temperature fermentation on very low grape solids and aging that took place entirely in stainless steel allowed us to capture all of the delicate fruit and floral aromas that a Pinot Grigio can deliver. TASTING NOTES Delicate floral aromas of lemon blossom, honeysuckle, and jasmine are accented by notes of white peach and juicy pineapple that fram core flavors of sweet honeydew melon, white nectarine and tart lemon. DFJ Vinhos Paxis Red Blend 2013Mr. Dino Ventura, one of DFJ's founders ("D), was one of the most innovative sales and marketing men the UK wine sector ever saw. He looked at all aspects of society to find ideas to apply to promoting Portuguese wine. One day he was watching one of his children playing a very traditional and physical UK game called Bulldog. During the game he heard children saying Paxis as a way to express immunity from being caught. Paxis struck him as an ideal way of expressing those times when we escape from the stress of the world and can appreciate the pleasure a great wine can give. Because of that, the Paxis wines are always carefully selected to offer a great ratio price/quality/pleasure. Enjoy!
Matchbook Chardonnay 2016This straw colored Chardonnay has tropical aromas of mango and melon complemented by hints of toasty oak. Flavors of creme brulee are mellowed by pineapple, pear and ripe melon. An opulent Chardonnay that is balanced by a lingering fruit-driven finish with lovely notes of butter and toasted marshmallow. Enjoy this wine on its own or paired with panko crusted salmon, roasted pine nut chicken or wild mushroom risotto. Bremer's June 2018 Staff Pick When asked to chose a wine for a staff pick for June, Merritt immediately thought of Chardonnay. And the Matchbook Chardonnay was a no brainer. Perfect for warm spring days that are just starting to turn into summer as well as cool nights by the first fire of the year. Matchbook Chardonnay is filled with tropical aromas and toasty flavors and is just the right choice for our transition from Spring to Summer.
Love Block Sauvignon Blanc 2017Perched right on top of the hills overlooking Marlborough's Awatere Valley, our Loveblock is far removed from the agricultural bustle in the valley below. From here you can almost see the end of the planet, the peace lifts you above your troubles. We are charged with creating the best wine we can to express this extraordinary place with its unique aspect. We follow our deeply held belief of ethical farming which allows the wine to show its true and naked terroir. Tasting Notes This wine has a pale straw color with a hint of green and lifted aromatics with pineapple, passionfruit and intense citrus blossom. Elegant palate with white peach, underscored with tropical fruits and linear acidity. It has a creamy mouthfeel and texture due to Loveblock’s organic winegrowing practices. Bremer's May 2018 Staff Pick This month's staff pick has been chosen by Taylor, a member of the fifth generation of Bremers to work at the store. Like so many of us, Taylor often chooses a bottle of wine by the label artwork and once he saw the illustration on Loveblock Sauvignon Blanc, he knew he needed to give it a try. (The 92 point rating from Wine Enthusiast certainly didn't hurt either). On his first sip, he knew he had made a good decision... with flavors of cantaloupe and crushed sweet meadow grass and balanced acidity this Sauvignon Blanc is the perfect pick to enjoy all summer long.
Chateau de Lavernette Beaujolais Blanc 2015Grape Variety Chardonnay Winemaking The hand picked grapes were whole-cluster pressed in a gentle pneumatic press and gravity fed to the tank to be cold settled. Separated from the heavy lees by racking, the must ferments at a low temperature in tank to preserve the fruity aromas. The wine remained on its fine lees, finished malo-lactic conversion and has been aged for 5 months before it was estate bottled. Tasting Notes This Beaujolais Blanc is a wine for those in search of immediate pleasure. Fragrant white flowers, full of juicy white fruits, laced with a mineral edge, and balanced by a gossamer acid finish that bewitches and beguiles one’s reason. An untamed dance of seven veils whirls across the palate revealingly and ends with slaked desire. Food pairing Salmon, risotto, lobster, Roquefort, soft mild cheese, Caesar salad, Caribbean cuisine, chicken or pork in cream sauce, stuffed clams, oysters. Bremer's March 2018 Staff Pick | Chosen by Eric, fourth generation co-owner of Bremer's While the weather might not seem like it, spring is on its way and this month, Eric decided to pick a wine that is perfect for the transition into (somewhat) warmer weather. Made with 100% Chardonnay grapes, this white is refreshing, but will still stand up to the comfort food all this snow and chilly weather has you craving.
Francis Ford Coppola Diamond Series Green Label Syrah Shiraz 2015Two names for one grape: Syrah is the French term for the wine grape that is called Shiraz in Australia. An impeccably-sourced Syrah that combines ripe fruit flavors with classic overtones of white pepper and toasted oak. Tasting Notes Intense plum and clove aromas are the fragrant welcome from our Green Label Syrah-Shiraz. Made from grapes grown in Paso Robles and Monterey, this concentrated and complex wine has soft tannins, along with blackberry and boysenberry flavors layered with notes of smoky bacon, sweet vanilla and bittersweet chocolate. Bremer's February 2018 Staff Pick Chosen by Amy, the Marketing Director at Bremer's Wine and Liquor. A huge fan of all wines by Coppola (especially the Cabernet), Amy was very excited to give their Diamond Collection Syrah-Shiraz a try. Not only is the label beautiful, the wine is delicious! Complex flavors of blackberry, vanilla and bittersweet chocolate along with soft tannins make every sip interesting. It’s the perfect wine to cuddle up with during this never-ending winter.
Chop Shop Cabernet Sauvignon 2016Your go-to meat wine. Chop Shop is a juicy, complex, full-bodied Cabernet that pairs with burgers and prime cuts alike. Chop Shop is a go-to California Cabernet Sauvignon ready to be enjoyed any night of the week with everything from pizza to hamburgers to steak, and is equally as great on its own. A blend of Lodi and Clarksburg AVAs, this crowd pleasing style results from fermentation in stainless steel, and aging in a combination of stainless steel and french oak. A touch of Petit Verdot and Cabernet Franc add some dark, complex nuances to this otherwise juicy Cabernet Sauvignon, and what’s in the bottle is a red that is friendly and versatile, with underlining masculinity and structure. January 2018 Bremer's Staff Pick Our first staff pick of 2018 was chosen by Ken, an employee with Bremer's for over 6 years. Ken used to be all about sweet wines, but has recently taken a liking into all things dry. When he first tried his pick, Chop Shop Cabernet, the first thing that popped into his mind was steak. So while it might be too cold to break out the grill (although not unheard of), pick up a bottle of Chop Shop and a nice steak and get cooking! You won't be disappointed in the pick or the pairing.
The Seeker Sauvignon Blanc 2017DISCOVERED IN NEW ZEALAND We sought our Sauvignon Blanc in not one but two of New Zealand’s best vineyard sites – Marlborough and Martinborough – for complexity and zest. AROMAS/FLAVORS Aromas of zesty lime, grapefruit, and passionfruit with a touch of fresh green herbs. A refreshing and vibrant palate with core of sweet fruit leading to a long and juicy finish. PAIRING Ideally-suited to shellfish, salads, citrus-sauced dishes, ocean voyages, and park blanket reconnaissance. WINEMAKING Grapes are destemmed, pressed, and cold-settled overnight before cool fermentation in stainless steel tanks – no oak – to capture fruit purity; the wine then ages on its lees to add weight and richness. LOWER CARBON FOOTPRINT Lightweight glass, local sustainable printer, certified sustainability practices in the vineyards and winery. Bremer's May Staff Pick This month’s staff pick has been chosen by Taylor Bremer, part of the 5th generation of Bremer’s to work at the store. 99.9% of the time Taylor chooses a wine because he is drawn to the label, and his pick, The Seeker Sauvignon Blanc , is no exception. Enjoying drawing himself, it is no surprise he is drawn to the illustration on this bottle. Beyond the look, he likes the taste even better!
Evodia Garnacha 2016Calatayud is a fairly innocuous and rural region of Spain. As far as the eye can see the hills and plains are blanketed with head-pruned vineyards, primarily Garnacha. Just to the north of Calatayud is Campo de Borja, Navarra and Rioja Baja so this sea of Garnacha is a small part of a wider ocean. Much of the inexpensive and pleasurable Garnacha sold in the US comes from these regions in Spain and Eric Solomon was an early pioneer and proponent. Years ago while working on a project in Calatayud, Eric Solomon met Jean-Marc Lafage and Yolanda Diaz. Yolanda is a native of the region and knows the terruño of Calatayud better than anyone. Jean-Marc is the very talented winemaker and consultant from the Roussillon just across the border in France. Together they "discovered" a unique village in Calatayud, Atea. At 1000 meters above sea level it is the highest elevation village in the whole DO. Even more interesting is that the soil here is black schist, the same soil one can find in the Priorat and in Maury where Jean-Marc owns an estate by the name of Saint-Roch. This unique terroir and the old vines of Garnacha rooted in it, are the origins of Evodia. April 2016 Bremer's Staff Pick his month’s staff pick has been chosen by Garry – longtime Bremer’s employee. His pick, Evodia by Altovinum, has been a longtime favorite of his.
19 Crimes Red Wine 2016Intensity resides within each pour of this blend. The bright hues of dark berry fruits shine as the strong vanilla aroma rises from the glass. Flavors of chocolate and cedar spice are accomplices in a finish that is soft, fruity, and fresh. Bremer's 2015 Holiday Staff Pick: Picked by Garry “Intensity resides within each pour of this blend. The bright hues of dark berry fruits shine as the strong vanilla aroma rises from the glass. Thanksgiving staff pick Pairs well with Turkey, Goose and Pheasant
Domaine LaFage Novellum Chardonnay 2016Someone once made an unflattering comparison between Chardonnay and a part of one's anatomy best left unmentioned, saying, "everyone's got one, no one wants to hear about yours." Sadly Chardonnay is a victim of its own success and frequently a punch line despite being one of the most highly esteemed wines in its guise of Grand Cru Chablis or Montrachet. We are not claiming that Novellum is like these auspicious wines but we will argue that for its price you can hardly find better. For many years we worked with a cooperative in the Languedoc to make Novellum from a special site that in most years had some botrytis, giving the wine weight without resorting to oak. Since that time we've moved the project to the Roussillon where Jean-Marc and Eliane Lafage have some Chardonnay planted near the Mediterranean that makes a remarkably complex and mineral version of the variety. There is no botrytis here so we resort to a small percentage in barrel - usually less than 20%. The remainder of the wine is aged in tank on the lees of Viognier. It remains one of the best values in Chardonnay that you can find. Bremer's March 2017 Staff Pick Bremer’s March staff pick has been chosen by co-owner, Tim Bremer. He has an extensive background in the wine industry and a great love for wine. When he is not busy at work in the office or helping a customer find the perfect wine, he is probably out on the golf course enjoying the weather. Tim certainly loves a great French wine and when he tried Novellum Chardonnay, he was not disappointed. It is a great wine to enjoy as the weather begins to warm up. If his recommendation alone isn't enough to convince you... it's also rated 90 pts by Wine Advocate! So what are you waiting for? Stop by and pick up your bottle today.
Torres Celeste Crianza 2014Celeste is an opulent wine brimming with fruit, body and colour: as unique as the night sky in the Ribera del Duero. Dark cherry red with intense garnet highlights. Aromas of black fruit (wild blackberries, blueberries) and delicate toasted notes (coffee) with nicely oak-aged undertones (toasted oak). Serious and warm with very fine, juicy, velvety tannins. Pair with... Given its tannic and fruit properties, it pairs well with a wide variety of meat dishes, including roasts and wild game. Bremer's September 2017 Staff Pick Bremer’s September staff pick has been chosen by Tim, fourth generation co-owner of Bremer’s Wine and Liquor. While Tim certainly loves the warm summer months, the cooler temperatures that September brings allow for a delicious glass of red wine. And that is exactly what Tim found in his pick, Torres Celeste Crianza. Filled with flavors of “cherry and red plum” this is the perfect wine to enjoy while the seasons begin to change. Recommended by Tim AND backed with an 88 point rating from Wine Spectator, you can’t go wrong with this wine.

Pair this rich, refreshing Chardonnay with light fish dishes, a variety of salads and mild cheeses. August 2014 Bremer's Staff Pick Bremer's August staff pick has been chosen by Eric Bremer. As the youngest of Bud Bremer's 7 children, working at the store was an integral part of Eric's life while he was growing up. In 2006, when Bud decided to retire, Eric returned to the area and began working at Bremer's again as part of the fourth generation of Bremer's to own Bremer's Wine and Liquor. Martin Ray Chardonnay past vintages have been highly rated and it's a matter of time for this new vintage to find ratings equally as high.

Bremer's 2015 Holiday Staff Pick: Picked by Ken “A dark, decadent red blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Zinfandel, Petite Verdot and Petite Sirah. The barrel aged Cabernet Sauvignon provides the powerful but elegant backbone and structure while the Merlot adds the dark berry nose and luscious mouthfeel. The Zinfandel adds a particular spiciness that you can only grow in California. W&J Graham's Six Grapes PortDark red colour, with a seductive rich perfume of ripe plums and cherries. On the palate, complex, with a good structure and a long lingering finish. Graham's "Six Grapes" is delicious served at the end of a meal, for example with rich, nutty or chocolate desserts, as well as strong cheeses. Bremer's 2015 Holiday Staff Pick: Picked by Josh “This full-bodied, luscious wine is drawn from the same vineyards as Graham’s Vintage Ports. Blended from two or three years’ harvests, the wine is an average of five to six years old when bottled. It follows the Graham’s Vintage style very closely, although it has softened more quickly by being matured in oak casks rather than in bottle. Its extremely rich fruity style makes it a truly superb, rare and appealing Port.” ~ Use this to make this mouth watering recipe for Chicken with Port and Figs

Pedroncelli Mother Clone Zinfandel 2015Pedroncelli’s historic Zinfandel vineyards are located on the hillsides surrounding the winery, on the ranch originally purchased by John Pedroncelli Sr. in 1927 and planted to Zinfandel since 1904. These vines are head-pruned and hand-picked, a second generation vineyard cloned from the original “Mother” vines which were replanted block by block beginning in the early 1980s. The fruit from the remaining over 100-year-old vines, although a small part, is included. We source three estate sources: the Home Ranch, Bushnell, and Buchigani Vineyard. Tasting Notes Our Mother Clone is a classic Dry Creek Valley Zinfandel with aromas of red and black berries and a touch of warm baking spices. The concentrated flavors of raspberry and blackberry combine with vanilla, toasty oak, pepper and a dash of nutmeg. The spicy-berry dynamic so typical of Dry Creek Zin combines smooth tannins and bright acidity which are a hallmark of our style. Enjoy now or cellar for three to five years. Cupcake Red Velvet 20152012 Vintage: "A deliciously rich blend of Zinfandel, Merlot, and Petite Sirah, our Red Velvet is made up of grapes from some of the finest vineyards in California. This wine shows a heady nose of chocolate, deep rich blackberries, red fruits, and a creamy mocha finish that is unmistakable in its intensity and length. It's reminiscent of a blackberry chocolate cupcake with a mocha coulis. Enjoy with sweet and spicy Hoison steak, a barbeque bacon cheeseburger or even dark chocolate fondue. Each varietal adds distinct characteristics that lends structure, aroma and depth of flavor. Specifically, the Zinfandel lends ripe red fruit and jammy strawberry, the Merlot contributes blueberry compote with hints of chocolate, lending silky tannins while the Petite Sirah is the backbone, enhancing the color and texture of the wine. We ferment each varietal separately before blending. Finally we age the entire blend on a unique oak regime which builds the texture and contributes to the delicious creaminess." -Winemaker October 2015 Bremer's Staff Pick October's Staff pick has been chosen by Ken, who has been an employee at Bremer's now for over 4 years.
